We are excited to offer this opportunity again to children of the National region, and surrounding areas, following positive feedback from both parents and attendees from the previous years. The Express Yourself! Teen camp is based on a program offered at the University of Iowa’s Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic. The general idea is to provide an opportunity for children who stutter to meet, share experiences and support each other, while challenging them to go outside their comfort zone and gain confidence in using speech skills or stuttering easily. We have several special activities, initiatives, and guest speakers planned.

Ages: Proposed for students in grades 5-8; high school students are welcome to apply. Contact the clinic for other treatment options for this age group.
Date: July 12th – 16th, 2021
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. daily (please pick up the campers by 4:00 p.m. at the latest)

Parking is available at the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre. There is usually a fee of $10 for parking any longer than 30 minutes. Please see the parking map of the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre here
There will be a Sign In/Out Sheet to be signed every day. For security purposes, we ask that you inform us of who will be picking up your child from the camp each day and to bring a piece of ID that we can verify at the time of pick-up.
Campers should dress for vigorous activity. There will be an hour of physical activity most days, so shorts and sneakers are appropriate.
Guest appearances will be scheduled for the event. If you have any concerns with them participating in this event and observing your child, please let us know.
